I forgot - you're a point'n'drool Windoze luser who wants nothing >to do with Real Operating Systems. I object to this statement. Not all computer users are programmers, and some (I suspect, most) simply want to be able to run programs. For this effect, as long as it does not crash (and my copy of Windows 98 has not done anything seriously nasty in well over a year now: okay, occasionally it freezes and forces me to hit the off-switch, but I suspect this is as much the fault of Norton CrashGuard as it is of Windows, given what I've heard about Norton's stuff), Windows is as good as any - given that I can run various programs from Nethack to Sibelius7 to Word with a click. And yes, I use OE and Internet Explorer and I'm *not* ashamed to admit it because I don't arse about or put the reply before the sentence being replied to. (On the other hand, even I would think twice before using AOL: not because of the reputation of their other users - which also smears plenty of normal and decent people as well as the losers - but because they provide a lousy service.) Simply insulting people because of their choice of operating system/net browser/mail program of choice (or otherwise - I basically use what came with my computer and really don't see the point in getting anything else when what I've got works fine for what I want it to do) marks the person dishing out the insults as a loser. A windows user should do the following: > (1) Open a DOS window. > (2) Type "format c:" or whatever it is... Well... It would force the poor luser to weep in front of a more-or-less useless computer, whereas my solution might actually work. Provided that the luser happens to have an Unix-like system (e.g. Linux) at hand. >>Oh. Sorry. I forgot - you're a point'n'drool Windoze luser who wants >> nothing to do with Real Operating Systems. > I object to this statement. Not all computer users are programmers, > and some (I suspect, most) simply want to be able to run programs. [snip] I'm sorry. I did not mean 'every Windows user is an idiot' - heck, I use Windows too. There are no good animation players for Linux, that I know of - xanim chops the video to bits (least on my Celeron-400 based machine), and mtv is not freeware - and there are other reasons. What I _meant_ was 'this particular luser is an idiot who only wants to point'n'click and starts to scream whenever he sees a command line interface somewhere'. Again, I apologise for everyone whose feelings I might have hurt. Except for the warez-luser.
