----------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE!!!! ======== This message is here purely for reasons of preserving the history. I was recently approached by the person who originally sent this message, and he asked me to remove the name or something. I re-read the message, and... well, I better just reproduce the whole E-mail I sent him: Fate indeed is not without the sense of irony! When I downloaded your short clip [He wrote of one Blender animation], my ISP's transparent web proxy was acting up (that has been going on for the whole week - I was delighted to note that today I was actually able to submit a web form!). I had to set up a SSH tunnel (localhost:12365 -> my mailserver -> onslow.mine.nu:80) to download the clip. And now I looked at the comment you was concerned of... ...you ask how to get rid of censorware. And I just used one of the techniques that is commonly used to get rid of censorware to download your stuff. =) Believe me, *these days*, I know what N2H2 and Bess are, and very much oppose the use of such filtering software - the companies who do this are really messing with stuff that they really shouldn't be messing with, and worst of all, people are trusting these scumbags. If I had been in your position, believe me, I would too have been looking for ways around the filter *very* soon. For example, take a look at http://www.everything2.com/. It's my favorite web site, and I spend most of my days there these days. Then search for "Bess can't go here" (or see this link: http://www.everything2.com/?node=Bess+Can't+Go+Here ) - interestingly, that document also mentions the SSH tunneling. These fools censored this amazingly useful and educating and just plain damn wonderful website because "it has an uncensored chat". DUH! (Sometimes I suspect they happened to be visiting when someone mentioned "lesbians, monkeys and soy" again...) So, I *really don't* think what you asked was wrong or immoral; you just asked about it in a wrong newsgroup... =) What comes to censorware, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. So, don't think this guy is an 33vUl d00d. It's just that we don't talk of this in the group. =) - WWWWolf, October 6, 2002 [ The name and E-mail are rot13'd to fool search engines. =) ] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- From wright@spike.physics.ncsu.edu Wed Apr 21 14:28:05 1999 Path: news.eunet.fi!newsfeed2.funet.fi!newsfeed3.funet.fi!newsfeed1.funet.fi!newsfeed1.telenordia.se!algonet!howland.erols.net!newsfeed.cwix.com!192.26.210.166!sunqbc.risq.qc.ca!gatech!nntp-xfer.ncsu.edu!not-for-mail From: Eric Wright Newsgroups: rec.games.roguelike.nethack Subject: [RGRNCA]Re: N2H2 filters Date: Tue, 20 Apr 1999 14:48:02 -0400 Organization: NCSU Dept. of Physics Lines: 33 Message-ID: <371CCBE2.FC33B4F6@spike.physics.ncsu.edu> References: <7fi6uf$c9d$1@daffy.anet.uwrf.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: euphrosyne.physics.ncsu.edu Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.5 [en] (X11; I; Linux 2.0.36 i686) X-Accept-Language: en Bjra Fjrexfgebz wrote: > > Anyone have tools or techniques for hacking Bess's N2H2 server filters? > Please email me. > thanks. > > -Bjra Fjrexfgebz > bjra.w.fjrexfgebz@hjes.rqh Hmm, you're at a university.
