[Note: Spelling errors are probably not mine.]
Ah. I expected to hear soon from you. So, what do you have to say?
a couple days ago i posted a message; i'm surprised it didn't show up here, [note--it DID show up on alt.phreak] it was on the list of newsgroups to post to; but lately, my ISP has been all over my butt in that area. I shouldn't be surprised if something doesn't work my way.
So... i posted a message for my magazine. Quite simply, it stated:
[Original message snipped]
apparently, some saw that as unreasonable. y'see... ...one of the newsgroups that got posted to was one called rec.games.rougelike.nethack . One would look at the name, such as i did, and inquire "hm? nethack? perhaps it is a hackers newsgroup..." ...common sense. But no... ...this is newsgroup full of middle aged geeks who have nothing better but to sit at the computer all morning in their pajamas (with the feet? you know the ones...) eating a bowl of cereal and making sniviling little "cool" gestures to their equally pathetic geek buddies.
::snicker:: ::grunt::
Let's see what you did:
Now that is common sense.
[RGRNCA strike snipped - see the archive for more details.]
sickening huh? i mean... ...that one person could produce such drivel? forming a fucking union to bitch about me? for what? offering them to write for my magazine? "sorry! it'll never happen again!!"
Yes. One person could produce such drivel. It took me about 45 minutes to write the strike report.
The union was not formed to whine about you. It was formed to complain fiercely about your kind. The pink things known only as... spammers.
...oh yeah? did i mention i'm even on his pathetic 'group' website. ("heh heh *snort* hey fellas!! look i put this guy on my website!! heh heh *snort*... "...we've really shown him a thing or two..." "heh heh *snort* yeah! heh heh*" "heh-- hey! isn't star trek on now?* [mad panic and fight to get to the tv])
Hmmm... I put this thing to my website for variety of valid reasons:
well...
...all i really got was a note saying they got some complaints.
...that i should read the newsgroup policies before posting.
...and my dad got kinda pissy at me. whop dee ding. You geeks happy? "i really got my ass chewed out this time!"
And oh, by the way, you increased the blood pressure of very, very big horde of Usenet news administrators and usenet readers.
They got "some" complaints. Lucky you. I sent only one. Probably soneone else was also annoyed by your small advertisement.
And yes, you really should read the newsgroup policies before posting. If you had done so, you would have known that spamming is usually considered very rude by any standards.
Did you know what? We failed. We succeeded in getting the attention of your ISP's abuse staff, and they helpfully asked you to take some time to read the policies. But we failed: You failed to understand our point. Our point was: "You spammed, oh pink one; Now repent and don't spam again, for spamming is evil."
...i mean, that i try to do my job of editor of this magazine, and a bunch of sniveling little star trek geeks think they've just whipped the shit out of me. Normally, i don't bother with such pittiful wastes of flesh.. ...but y'know... ...i'm really sick of this shit. People goin' around with chips on their shoulders (that they put there) attempting to rough up other people (weakly attempting i might add) and inflating their egos.
I really don't think I've "whipped the shit out of you". I don't think that most ISPs in the world have constitutional rights to give capital punishments to network abusers. But I do know that they are allowed to nicely tell them that the said abusers are misbehaving (just as they did to you) or terminate the said abuser's account. My goal is to give either one of these to the d00ds that pollute our group.
And what comes to the original message - heck, the acts of violence were just meant as a general amusement to the newsgroup. You see, we get so much of this d00dspam that most of the readers want to see them dead. I just give them what they want - and inform the d00d's ISP that hey, we have found a spammer that you might want to educate!
I don't do this for fame or money. Believe me. I do it because it's fun. And as sure as hell it beats watching Star Trek.
It's very nice to hear about "inflating their egos" from a some d00d-nerd called "mighty_joe_young"...
So. If i said i was "going to eradicate this scum from the face of the internet!!" then i'd be no better than this over-imaginative, under-hormoned dissillusioned geek.
Okay, now go to alt.binaries.slack and say LOUDLY that all spam-fighters are "over-imaginative, under-hormoned dissillusioned geeks"... if you dare.
All generalizations are dangerous, not including this one.
I'm but one of the zillions who work for this goal: to stop spam. We need to stop spam. Spam is evil. Most of the Usenetters think spam is evil. And you know what? They think that those who want to fight against the spam, to stop the evil spammers and to protect the innocent citizens from being spammed, are a honorable lot that needs to be respected.
No, i'm not procclaiming internet warfare (but believe me, if either of us can, i sure as hell could)... ...i'm just going to say quite bluntly.
it's not over.
As sure as hell, it isn't. It won't end until you understand.
More replies to this particular d00d's message followed - we got some nice comments...
