(Get back to my Nethack index)
This directory has my Nethack game videos.
The files are compressed with bzip2.
The .ansi.txt files were generated with "tee" utility in Linux, and the game was being played in an eterm with "decgraphics" and "color" options on. Basically, yeah, all Linux terminals with some grip of ANSI should be able to show this video. You may want to use the slowcat utility to slow down the printout: bzcat file | slowcat...
The .nh files were recorded with nh_recorder. This program rules - speed changes, and so on - except that it's pretty bad if I leave the terminal open for long time with no movement, as had happened in some videos =( When or if there will be files ending with .ttyrec, they'll be ttyrec files - basically, the same deal as nh_recorder, only more platform-independent and application-agnostic. I may use this in future, but not right now.
(I fixed the MIME types... video/x-nhrecorder should do the trick.)
Some tags used here:
[Top10] = ended up in my top-10 list, may
still be there with some luck.
[NewMoon] = "Bad luck explainable by
the new moon" game. Check these out for their comedy value. Horrible
horrible deaths.
= This poor adventurer met a the end very
quickly.
[Cool] = An amazing game!
No point mentioning the YASDs because all of these are
YASDs in one or more senses =)
Oh, and I used to think that I should use some cool name for the characters. Then, I just picked something that was generated with Rager, using a grammar to generate random names. Qeumi was among the nicest. I like it, it's rather... unusual and not tied to particular gender or race, so it can be used just about everywhere.

| 2004-05-31/2 | Qeumi | NhRec/53k | This was an okay game. I got to the Oracle without any major incidents. Even got the Mjollnir. Then a damn freezejelly did something uncool (except maybe literally). |
| 2004-05-31/1 | Qeumi | NhRec/39k | Pretty cool. Nymph ripped me off, single-handedly defeated a horde of hill orcs half-naked, then got ripped off some more, and died. Grr. Was a promising start though. |
| 2005-08-28/2 | Qeumi | TTYRec/52k | A not so okay game, but illustrates well how frustrating the deaths in Nethack can sometimes be! |
The index generated with some random Perl hack I threw together in couple of minutes 'cuz FancyIndex wasn't fancy enough...
