I drew this May 9th, 1998. I used GIMP 0.99.28, logi32 scanner driver and a lot of patience. (Well, it took less patience than some other things, but...)
The text was generated using "Text Circle" Script-FU! script. I scanned the wolf picture from Canadian Wolf Defenders poster (I found this from Robert H. Busch's The Wolf Almanac) and used Threshold to make it black-and-white.
The circle was made using the ellipse selector, filled with the usual trick (Brushed Aluminium gradient). The edges were made using blurred b/w copy of the circle as a bump map. Then, I just bump-mapped the B&W text + picture to the circle.
Then, I made a flame using Ancient Tricks (see elsewhere, I'm bored) and overlayed it.

I did it 11-12 June 1998 using GIMP 1.0.0 and my new Wacom UltraPad A5 graphics tablet, praised be my grandmother's name. (I just wish GIMP would support XIE goodies soon...)
Nimrod mk II is an one-man laser tank. Nasty one. You need to lie down (no room for sitting), aim and drive with camera. It's also lethally accurate, easy to maneuver and 100% cretin-proof.
In case you're wondering ... Genesis 10:8-9. Nomen est omen.
Postscript: One of the first images I've drawn with the tablet - and damn, it shows. =(

A simple ad. Made in the middle of the night, so don't expect it to be too clever one. =) The skull and crossbones is from a .gif that is found in every pirate/d00d page from here to Vladivostok.

This image was inspired by the said quote. I think this is vastly better than the previous RGRNCA title image - definitely not perfect, but better... Also the first image of me without a shirt. =)
Did with GIMP 1.0.2, original size 1600x1600 pixels with 6 layers, and used my tablet. You can only imagine the hell it was sometimes to frobnicate with a P166...

Damn, spent 15 minutes actively making the Mortar documentation prettier. Duh. I'm not a Good Hacker. Or maybe I am. I was crazy enough to do this. =)
Anyway, this is the picture I made for Mortar manual title page. Took about 15 minutes, made with an open-source graphics program Sketch - not quite CorelDraw, but cool nevertheless =)
