Members of
the Order of Dried Petals
 |
Karaydhjenna
Bourejenn: Having lived all of her life in the
Anchorfall Docks, worked in a whole lot of odd boring
jobs, Kara is convinced that life is too short to be
wasted on taking things too seriously. She's frequently
happy, and she's frequently sad, but no matter what
she's feeling, nothing stops her in her tracks. She
loves to illustrate the fickleness of life and the
startling implications of deaths through her
assassinations. Some in the order, however, say that
she should take things a bit more seriously... but
would that be within the spirit? |
 |
Boris
Volachlot Chorsson: Before getting involved
with the Order, Boris was a jaded vigilante. Now, he
considers himself somewhat of a warrior monk, and has
dedicated himself to bringing justice and understanding
to the world through his assassinations. He is
currently the most active recruiter for the Order, and
also responsible for their training in spiritual
matters and the art of killing. According to Kara,
"Boris isn't, actually, just a cold killer who
torments the novices. I know he has the whole scale of
human emotion tucked somewhere in his mind. He just
consciously elects not to use it." |
 |
Tina
Gemmarr: One of the most accomplished members
of the order and Kara's good friend. Among the Petals,
Tina is frequently called a "backstabbing whore", with
the most respectful tone imaginable; if her victims
ever lived to tell the tale, their tone might
be different. She wants to educate people to believe
that things will not stay good forever and that there's
no such thing as a "balance of things": bad things
happen to everyone, and people should think of how to
protect themselves from calamities. She's adept at
exploiting such flaws. |
Leaders of the Anchorfall branch of the Order of Dried
Petals
 |
Malik
Millersson: A former thief and a member of the
Order of Torch, Malik is the founder and reviver of the
order. He's a good friend of Faira Ativel, a famed
thief who originally discovered the Witherlady's
Cathedral far below Anchorfall. Having found his
spiritual calling, he worked to restore the Cathedral
to its past glory and revived the order. Malik is
usually considered a wise and practical leader, who
values good results over little details. A few people
have complained that Malik hasn't really killed anyone
since the founding of the Order, but that's just
because he has his hands full. |
 |
Jorge
Martinsson: Jorge is Malik's right hand and
the Order's Recordkeeper, and thus the person whom most
of the members have to deal with to get their
assassination Tasks properly evaluated and recorded.
Most members don't like Jorge much, because unlike
Malik, he's a notorious nitpicker and stresses too much
"serious spiritual matters" that aren't, strictly
speaking, necessary. |
 |
Adielle
Morthalthen ath Morthalthen: the Order's
Priestess of Carriglena. |
 |
Ella
Standardier: The Order's Singer of Laments. An
accomplished musician who, by all accounts, is too nice
to even break a twig. Rumours state that she killed
someone with power of song alone, but that's highly
debatable. Her role in the Order is to assist the
members to sing Laments; each murder the Order commits
is followed by the member's confessional song that
explains who the person they killed was and what did
they do to deserve their death. |
Divine influences
 |
Carriglena: The Witherlady is a
goddess who prefers to stay in shadows. She is not a
goddess of death as such, but rather the
goddess of the fickle mercy, ephemeral beauty, and the
fact that everything beautiful may vanish without a
warning – a goddess of sudden death and destruction, a
death that may or may not be entirely justified. It is
by Carriglena's will that the talented people might
fall in their prime, but on the other hand, it is by
Carriglena's will that tyrants who think they shall
rule forever will also meet an unpredictable end. |
Other fine folks of
Avarthrel
These fine folks also appear elsewhere in my Avarthrel
stories, and have made an appearance or two in the comic as
well…
 |
Faira
Ativel: Mostly known as an accomplished
Privateer before the Revolution War, she later joined
the Shadowhawks, a relatively honourable thief gang in
Anchorfall. After the Shadowhawks were disbanded and
she had played her own part in the Revolution War, she
has spent time adventuring, occasionally taking part in
the activities of the Order of Torch, and
coincidentally also discovering the Witherlady's
Cathedral and hence inspiring the rekindling of the
Order of Dried Petals. However, while the Petals
obviously revere her, she's not taking part in their
activities. |
 |
Facyr
Tann: A Grycian-born decorated Hero of
Varmhjelm and one of the famed figures who saved the
Kingdom of Varmhjelm in the Revolution War, Facyr Tann
has accomplished a lot without even trying to achieve
fame - he just fights and does a good job at it. He is
a Lieutenant of the Anchorfall City Guard. |
 |
Cassandra
Arthailia de Tai: a princess of the royal
family of Aiecaertea who decided to serve her country
best by relinquishing her claim to throne and going to
fight evil as a roving mercenary. Nowadays, married to
Facyr Tann and working full time as a Sergeant of the
Anchorfall City Guard. |
 |
Quirierle
Foggymorn: An alchemist and a former
Battlemage-Captain of the Charon's Artillery and a
veteran of dozens of fierce conflicts in the Varmian
frontier. Nowadays, she has retired from her duties for
a while to pursue more magical research in the
Anchorfall Academy, and runs a shop called Quir's
Concoctions. |
