Simple advertisements

In the Shadow Temple of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, there’s this small advertisement that you should drop down one hole and have a look at the big ship. Just like that. Go there, have a look at the ship. Doesn’t cost anything. You can go there and look at the ship. I went and had a look at the ship.

Likewise, in one online RPG, there was one druid player who advertised a free lesson about care and handling of animals. Well, a simple advertisement and exhortation to come and see the thing. And it had animals. I felt bad about not attending. It sounded so simple and it featured animals.

One of the appealing things about this is that it’s advertising something that’s important to the people who made it. They’re not necessarily in it for profit. And the request itself is simple.
