Prizes

Everyone deserves a prize of some sort.

Prizes are kind of like wonderful gifts, and very much related in concept. People should be rewarded when they do good things; people should be allowed to award people who have done well in some field. It should not be limited to great achievements.

For example, ma.gnolia allows people to give other people little icons to thank them for nice interesting links. I think that wonderful little prizes like that are a nice idea.

Part of it is that life is ultimately not something that justifies a single major bit of gratification - each of us deserve tons of goodness in little droplets of joy. Every one of us accomplishes a lot of things over the course of our lives. Not all of us deserve gold trophies routinely, of course, but a reward of any kind, something that lasts for a while, would be quite justified.
