CD Fangs

CD Fangs is a script that reads a normal text file, rips CD tracks and encodes them as Ogg/Vorbis. It will even automatically figure out an appropriate filename!

Requirements

• A Rexx interpreter (I used Regina, no idea how it will work on other Rexx implementations but it should...)
• CD Paranoia, another fine Xiphophorus program.
• vorbize tool, binaries available from vorbis.com (or do what the Real People do and say apt-get install vorbize)

What I need to feed to it to make it work?

Just feed it file that has one rippable track per line, in the following format:

• Track number
• Artist
• Album (optional)
• Track name

The fields are separated with TAB character (Control+I, ASCII 9 - For example, C-q C-i will insert it in Emacs).

"Track number" is specified the same way you specify them for CDParanoia - type "cdparanoia" to get a concise guide.

And why Rexx?

For the heck of it. =) Actually, I first made a Perl version, but then I, um, got bored. The rest is history. Let's see how long this hack stays in my production use...
